Job Title: Electronics Supervisor (Exempt Position)

PROTRANS BC is the private operator of the Canada Line, a 19-km automated rail-based rapid transit system connecting Downtown Vancouver with central Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport. Located in Richmond, we are a part of the PROTRANS family of SNC-Lavalin O&M, a global solutions provider to facility and asset operations.
The Electronics Supervisor supervises the activities of technicians and contractors for maintenance, repairs and new installations of electronics systems. The Electronics Supervisor also schedules and co-ordinates special projects, ensuring that priority is given to failures affecting service, and checks that work carried out is done according to specification, quality and safety requirements.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Recommend and assist in the development of policies, procedures and programs, both routine and emergency, relating to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and new installations of electronics systems.
Supervise service contractors’ and technicians’ work, travel to work sites, and ensure compliance with corporate, departmental, safety and other regulating policies, codes and standards.
Work closely with outside contractors and other departmental supervisors to co-ordinate work efforts.
Ensure all necessary tools and materials for scheduled maintenance requirements and special projects are available in stock. Research and purchase test equipment when required.
Prepare work schedules and assign special projects and repairs by priority on a daily basis.
Respond to emergency incidents day or night; prepare reports on repair incidents, failure trends and participates in debriefing meetings as required.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safe work practices and coordinate monthly departmental safety meetings.
Participate in the preparation of the departmental budget and business plan.
Lead or participate in various committees and meetings, and perform other related duties as required.
Participate in the recruitment process by reviewing applications and resumes, short-listing candidates, interviewing candidates, assists in other pre-employment testing as appropriate and selection of candidates.
Research, recommend and manage contractors and consultants for various tasks and training.
Manage performance and competency levels including: dealing with performance issues by identifying the problem, finding causes, providing coaching and feedback, developing performance improvement and monitoring plans, and completing and conducting formal employee performance reviews on schedule.
Participate in incident investigations and implements necessary corrective action including: coaching, administers discipline and resolves grievances.
Address employee questions, issues and complaints providing mediation and conflict resolution support as the first line of contact.
Provide advice, guidance and coaching in relation to company policy, compliance, procedures and practices. Promote teamwork, personal growth and achievement while implementing necessary action.
Monitor employee attendance in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth in the companies Attendance Management Program.
Plan staffing levels and assigns work schedules and special projects. Authorize overtime, vacation, time off and leaves of absence requests.
Assist in the development of company policies and procedures and programs.
Develop and delivers various on the job and classroom training sessions. Review employee training records to ensure necessary training, testing and renewals or refresher training is completed and current.
Plan and facilitates regular team meetings. Expected to motivate, set clear goals and lead their team to consistently and safely deliver objectives.
Participate in management meetings to plan and develop strategies and practices.
Perform relief duties for manager as required.
Champion, manage and improve safety in the workplace.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Electronic engineer from an accredited university or 10 years experience maintaining electronic communication equipment.
Prioritization of workload to minimize asset and equipment failures, and completion of planned scheduled work is on time.
Able to respond to callouts 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Valid class 5 BC driver’s license.
Wayside Maintaince Vehicle Operator qualified.
Canada Line Trackwork Maintenance qualified.
Canada Line Rail Operating Rules qualified.
Canada Line Engineering and Maintenance Safety Qualified.
Rough Terrain & Overhead Crane qualified.
Fork Lift qualified.
First Aid Level 1 qualified.
Working in ATCTerritory qualified.
